HEMPSTEAD, New York – Marist men's tennis was defeated Sunday afternoon against Hofstra in a non-conference dual matchup, 4-2.
- In the third position, Jack Sequerth and Carlos Vasques fell to Hosftra, 6-3.
- Dylan Friedman and Christian Mills were defeated in the first position, 6-4.
- In the second position, the pairing of Gabe Castillo and Augusto Gonzalez were tied 4-4 before Hofstra clinched the doubles points from the first position.
- Friedman started singles by collecting the win in the first position against Bo Cautaerts, 6-3, 7-6.
- Teammate Christian Mills won in the third position against Hofstra's Shawn Jackson, 7-5, 6-3.
- Hofstra secured the victory with wins in the second, fifth and fourth positions.
- Gabe Castillo fell in the second position in three sets against Ostap Kovalenko. Castillo won in the second set 6-4, but lost in the first and third set, 6-4, 6-2.
"Dylan and Christian both won their second straight matches at #1 and #3 singles respectively, but we just didn't have enough at 4,5 & 6 to get the win," said Director of Tennis, Garry Sussman. "That being said, this was a very tough road match due to the venue, and I was pleased with the way we competed."
- The Red Foxes return home on Sunday, March 6th against NJIT.
- The dual-match is scheduled for 6 p.m.
