Men’s Lacrosse Defeated by Delaware on the Road Friday Night

Strong Second Half Blue Hens' Performance Secures Win for Delaware

Newark, Delaware – The Marist men's lacrosse team fell in a Friday night non-conference matchup against Delaware, 18-9.

SUMMARY
  • Delaware took an early 1-0 lead in the first quarter. 
  • Marist quickly responded tying the game with a Jojo Pirreca goal. 
  • Delaware's JP Ward scored at 9:03 in the first quarter to put Delaware in the lead, 2-1.
  • The Red Foxes finished the quarter tallying two more goals from JT Roselle and Joshua Balcarcel. Marist led at the end of the first quarter by a score of 3-2.
  • The Blue Hens added five goals in the second quarter, while Marist added a goal from Kellen Pulera. Delaware held the advantage heading into halftime, 7-4.
  • In the third quarter, Delaware outscored Marist 4-2. Pulera notched two goals in the third quarter.
  • The Blue Hens opened the fourth quarter adding two more goals to their lead. 
  • Jake Deacy scored his first of the game at 11:57 of the fourth quarter, assisted by Hunter Embury.
  • With seven minutes remaining in the fourth quarter, James Lyons connected with the back of the net for his first goal of the game.
  • Jason Intermesoli collected a goal with under two minutes remaining in the fourth quarter, the last goal the game. Delaware took the win by a score of 18-9.

  • Kellen Pulera led Marist with three goals, collecting a hat-trick.
