Marist Softball Topped by #22 Arizona State

Sun Devils Defeat Red Foxes, 9-1

TEMPE, Arizona – The Marist softball team fell to #22 Arizona State, 9-1 in five innings in a single game on Tuesday night.
 
The Red Foxes are now 9-12 on the season, while Arizona State is 19-5.

  • Arizona State scored four runs in the home half of the first. Emily Cazares hit a two-run homer, and Jazmyn Rollin followed with a solo shot.
  • Alynah Torres' two-run homer gave the Sun Devils a 6-0 lead in the second.
  • Savannah Prices' bases-clearing double gave Arizona State a 9-0 advantage in the third.
  • Marist rallied in the fifth. Hailee Jantorno reached with a one-out infield single. With two outs, Ronni Howard singled, and Shea Walsh was hit by a pitch to load the bases. Sam Freeland's single brought home Jantorno. However, the Red Foxes were not able to plate another run, which would have extended the game.
