Marist Drops Opening Round Game to Quinnipiac

Wright Leads Red Foxes with 14 Points

ATLANTIC CITY, New Jersey – The sixth-seeded Marist Men's basketball team lost to 11th-seeded Quinnipiac, 77-52, in the opening round of the 2022 Hercules Tires Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Men's Basketball Championship at Jim Whelan Boardwalk Hall.
 
Summary
  • Quinnipiac jumped out to an early 6-2 lead, but back-to-back baskets by Raheim Sullivan and Jordan Jones gave Marist its first lead – 9-8 at the 14:13 mark.
  • Quinnipiac then went on a 10-0 run, which included three-pointers by Dezi Jones and Luis Kortright.
  • The Bobcats' lead reached 11 on a three-pointer by Jacob Rigoni at the 6:47 mark, but Marist scored the next six, with four coming from Jao Ituka.
  • Jordan Jones scored the final four points of the first half, which narrowed the Red Foxes' deficit to 31-25 going to the locker room.

  • Ricardo Wright led the Red Foxes with 14 points. He was one of three Red Foxes to score in double digits, as he was joined by Jordan Jones (12) and Raheim Sullivan (10).
  • Jones, Wright, and Matt Herasme paced the Red Foxes with five rebounds apiece.
  • Jacob Rigoni scored a game-high 26 points for Quinnipiac. Rigoni shot 7-for-11 from three-point range. Dezi Jones had 20 points, 10 rebounds, and eight assists.
