Men’s Lacrosse Plays NJIT and Manhattan

Two Games This Week for the Red Foxes

POUGHKEEPSIE, New York – The Marist men's lacrosse team plays two games this week, on Tuesday, April 12 and Saturday, April 16. On Tuesday at 7 p.m., the Red Foxes play NJIT at home. On Saturday at noon, Marist plays at Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference rival Manhattan College.
 
LAST TIME OUT
  • Marist lost to #4 Princeton 18-7.
  • After the Red Foxes took a 2-1 lead thanks to Jack Deacy and Kellen Pulera, Princeton responded with nine unanswered goals and went into halftime up 10-2.
  • Jojo Pirreca opened the second half with a goal. The Tigers responded with six of their own.
  • Four more goals for Marist and two more for Princeton brought the final score to 18-7.
  • Pirreca led the Foxes with two goals and two assists.
  • William Embury scored his first career goal.
  • Goalie Anthony Novellano made 20 saves in the contest, two short of a career high.
 
SCOUTING NJIT
  • The Highlanders have not won a game so far this year, holding a 0-9 record.
  • NJIT has lost to three nationally ranked teams this year: Delaware, Lehigh, and Army West Point.
  • Marist is 2-0 all-time against NJIT.
  • Their last matchup came in 2016, with Marist winning 14-10.
  • Gage Adams leads the Highlanders with 15 points (8 G, 7 A). 
SCOUTING MANHATTAN
  • The Jaspers are 5-5 this season, and 3-1 in conference play. They have won three of their last four games.
  • Manhattan has beaten Quinnipiac, Canisius, and Siena in the MAAC so far.
  • Marist is 14-11 against Manhattan all-time.
  • Their last matchup came in April of 2021 and went to Marist 14-7.
  • The Jaspers point leader is Kyle Gucwa, who had 24 goals and seven assists this season.
  • Three other players have double digit goals this season.
