HAMDEN, Connecticut – The Marist softball team split a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference doubleheader at Quinnipiac on Saturday.

The Red Foxes fell 5-4 in game one as the Bobcats scored four runs in the bottom of the seventh. Marist bounced back in game two for a 13-5 victory in a game shortened to five innings due to the mercy rule.

Marist stole 15 bases on the day: seven in game one, eight in game two.
Miah McDonald had a team-best three on the day.

Marist now stands at 21-25 overall and 9-7 in the MAAC.

- Shea Walsh drew a leadoff walk, stole second, advanced to third on a groundout and scored on a two-out single to center by McDonald.
- Marist extended its lead to 4-0 in the third. McDonald's two-run double brought home Walsh and Caroline Baratta. McDonald then stole third and came in on a single by Maddie Pleasants.
- Gianna Palmisano scored on the front end of a double steal to get Quinnipiac on the board in the bottom of the fifth.
- Quinnipiac scored four runs in the bottom of the seventh, all with two outs. Brooke Hilliard's two-run triple made the score 4-3. Hillard scored on a single by Kayla Thomas to tie the game. Lala Pascual followed with a single, and after an error, pinch-runner Alyssa Noce came in from first with the winning run.
- McDonald finished 4-for-4 with three RBIs. She had a triple, two doubles, a single, and two stolen bases.
- Shea Walsh went 1-for-3 with two runs scored.
- Calista Phippen struck out eight in 6.2 innings.
- Marist stole seven bases, led by McDonald and Hailee Jantorno with two apiece.
- Marist left 10 runners on base. The Red Foxes had the bases loaded in sixth, and with no outs in the seventh, and did not score in either inning.

- Marist scored four in the top of the first, and sent nine hitters to the plate. Baratta's single scored Walsh. Sam Freeland came home on a McDonald groundout. On a ground ball off the bat of Meghan Davis, Baratta beat the throw to the plate. Pinch-runner Hannah Brock scored the fourth run on Maddie Gore's sacrifice fly.
- Quinnipiac responded with three runs in its half of the first, two of which were unearned on a two-out error.
- Marist erupted fir a seven-run fourth in which the Red Foxes sent 11 hitters to the plate. Walsh singled, doubled, and drove in three runs in the inning.
- Quinnipiac scored twice in the bottom of the fourth. Hilliard came in on Taylor Walton's sacrifice fly, and Kayla Jensen's RBI double brought home Thomas.
- Marist answered with two in the fifth with two outs. Alyssa Grupp's RBI double brought home Pleasants, and Grupp scored on Davis' single. The Red Foxes kept the Bobcats off the scoreboard in the fifth to close it out.
- Marist's eight stolen bases came from eight different Red Foxes.
- Quinnipiac outhit Marist, 10-9, but the Red Foxes drew six walks.
- Walsh finished 3-for-4 with three RBIs and two runs scored.

- Marist will host Rider for a MAAC doubleheader on Sunday at Gartland Field.
- First pitch of game one is set for noon.
