Men’s Tennis Has Weekend Full of MAAC Competition

The Red Foxes Battle the Hawks, Bobcats, & Stags

POUGHKEEPSIE, New York – The Marist men's tennis team has a busy weekend, playing Monmouth, Quinnipiac and Fairfield in a span of four days. 
 
Schedule
  • Friday, April 8 - vs Monmouth - 4:30 p.m.
  • Sunday, April 10 - at Quinnipiac - 1 p.m.
  • Monday, April 11 - Senior Day - vs Fairfield - Noon
 
LAST TIME OUT
  • Marist lost to Siena 6-1 this past weekend.
  • Marist secured a single point in the first doubles position with a win by Gabriel Castillo and Christian Mills.
  • In the second doubles position, Castillo earned another win, defeating Jose Del Olmo of Siena 6-0, 6-2.
  • Every other match fell in favor of Siena.
 
Scouting Monmouth
  • The Monmouth Hawks are 11-3 this season. The Hawks will open conference play on Friday, April 1 against Fairfield. 
  • From Feb. 5-23, the Hawks went on a 5-match winning streak where they beat every team involved by a 7-0 margin.
  • Their most recent outing was the UNCW invite, where they finished 2-1.
  • Against the Hawks, the Red Foxes are 5-8, with their most recent meeting ending in a 4-0 defeat for Marist.
 
SCOUTING QUINNIPIAC
  • The Bobcats are 4-10 this season and 1-1 in conference play.
  • They have lost four of their last five.
  • Quinnipiac's lone win from MAAC play came against Niagara by a score of 5-2. They lost the following match to Niagara.
  • The Bobcats have been shut out three times in their last four outings.
 
SCOUTING FAIRFIELD
  • The Fairfield Stags are 6-8 this season, and 0-2 in the MAAC.
  • The Stags are currently on a two game losing streak, coming off a loss against Niagara, 4-3.
  • They have struggled on the road this season with a 1-6 away record.
  • Against the Stags, the Red Foxes have historically done well with their record being 29-2.
  • Their last meeting resulted in a victory for Marist, 6-1, on April 9, 2019.

  • Following these matches, Marist closes out regular-season play at Rider on Thursday, April 14.
