POUGHKEEPSIE, New York Graduate student Teddy Wright of the Marist football team has been announced as a nominee for the 2022 Allstate American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) GoodWorks Team.

Wright is one of 114 student-athletes nominated across all levels of college football. The Allstate AFCA GoodWorks Team is in its 31st year, and highlights those who have contributed on and off the field through their work academically and service to their communities.

"For 31 years, the Good Works Team has recognized the inspirational work of thousands of young men off the football field," said Troy Hawkes, executive vice president and general manager, Allstate Sales and Distribution. "Allstate and AFCA celebrate these athletes as an example for how each of us can be true champions. Their selflessness makes the sport and communities across the country that much better."

Wright has provided leadership for the Red Foxes both on and off the field. He was a First Team All-Pioneer Football League (PFL) and All-Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC) selection as he tallied 76 total tackles, seven tackles for loss, four interceptions, and three sacks. Wright has made the PFL Academic Honor Roll each of the last two seasons and is currently pursuing his Master's degree. He has spoken out against sexual assault and helped promote the program's annual Set The Expectation game. He also has visited local elementary schools and taken part in a pen pal program.

The final 22-member team and honorary coach are selected by a voting panel of former Allstate AFCA Good Works Team members and journalists.

The Marist football team opens the 2022 season on Saturday, Sept. 3 against Georgetown at Tenney Stadium. It will be the first of 11 games on the Red Foxes' schedule this season. Marist has been a member of the Pioneer Football League since 2009.
