Marist Men’s Tennis Announces Five Newcomers

Red Foxes Add Two Transfers & Three Freshmen

POUGHKEEPSIE, New York – The Marist men's tennis team is adding five new members to its 2022-23 roster.
 
The newest Red Foxes are Tomas Gomez, Nick Suhanitski, Alex Thompson, Paolo Flores and Bart Wolvius.
 
"The addition of these five players will provide a very solid foundation for the men's program for the next several years. There is an excellent mixture of both domestic and international players, and they all provide various skill levels that will give the team an immediate infusion of talent and depth throughout the lineup," said Director of Tennis, Gary Sussman.
 
TOMAS GOMEZ
Tomas is from Bogota, Colombia and was the Colombian National Champion under 16's and under 18's and number two in the country for under 16's and under 18's. He also added four finals and one title in the ITF Juniors circuit.
 
NICK SUHANITSKI

Nick is a New Rochelle native and an honors student. He will be coming to Marist as a Finance major.
 
ALEX THOMPSON

Alex is from Montclair, New Jersey but spent three years living in England where he attended Claremont fan Court and Mouratoglou international school in Nice, France. He was recognized as the most improved player of Mouratoglou in the 2020-2021 season.
 
PAOLO FLORES

Paolo is a Pleasanton, California native where he attended Boca Prep International High School. Some of Paolo's honors include the Evert Tennis Academy Most Improved Player Award in 2017 and the USTA Junior Grand Prix Award recipient in 2016 as well as being inducted into the National Honor's Society of Leadership and Success. Paolo previously played for St. Bonaventure University.
 
BART WOLVIUS

Bart joins us from Eindhoven in the Netherlands where he attended Sint- Joris College. He was a top 100 player in the Netherlands as well as a top 10 player of the 2003 class. He was able to accomplish all of this while also graduating High School with a 4.0 GPA.
