POUGHKEEPSIE, New York – Marist College graduate Jason Myers opens his eighth NFL season on Monday night when the Seattle Seahawks host the Denver Broncos on Monday Night Football. Kickoff is set for 8:15 Eastern, and the game will be televised on ABC and ESPN.
Myers began his NFL career with the Jacksonville Jaguars, where he played from 2015-17. In 2018, he became the first Marist football player to make the Pro Bowl as a member of the New York Jets. He signed a multi-year contract with the Seahawks in March of 2019, and is starting his fourth season in Seattle.
Myers has converted 161 of his 190 career field goal attempts (84.7 percent). He has 343 career touchbacks, which covers 64 percent of his kickoffs.
In the 2020 season, Myers converted all 24 of his field goal attempts, and had the NFL's longest field goal of the season at 61 yards. He holds the Seahawks' team record with 39 consecutive field goals made, a streak that started in 2019 and lasted until 2021.
Myers was the Red Foxes' top placekicker and kickoff specialist from 2009-12. As a senior, he also handled punting duties.
As a freshman, he kicked a game-winning 37-yard field goal with one second remaining to lift the Red Foxes to a 23-21 win over Georgetown. His 49-yard field goal at Davidson in 2011 was the longest in program history, which was equaled by
Luke Paladino in 2019. Myers graduated as the program's all-time leader in points by a kicker with 159, and currently sits in second place in program history behind Mike Maccarone.
Myers is one of two Marist football players to play in an NFL game. Terrence Fede was drafted by the Miami Dolphins in the 2014 NFL Draft, and played there from 2014-17.
Michael Rios became the first Marist football player to sign an NFL contract when he signed a rookie free agent deal with the Arizona Cardinals in 2013. Rios then signed with Miami the following year.
