Marist Drops Non-Conference Game to Columbia

Fields Leads Red Foxes with 11 Tackles

POUGHKEEPSIE, New York - The Marist Red Foxes football team dropped its second straight game to start the season by a score of 38-3 to Columbia at Tenney Stadium on Saturday.
 
Key to the Game
Columbia capitalized on Marist's two turnovers, turning those into two of their five scoring drives, including an interception returned for a touchdown in the third quarter.
 
Marist Highlights
  • In the second quarter, Marist wide receiver Matt Stianche hauled in a 37 yard pass from Brock Bagozzi which set up Marist on the Columbia side of the 50.
  • In the third quarter, Marist running back Glennmour Leonard-Osbourne caught a 24-yard pass from quarterback Diego Arroyo.
  • Diego Arroyo connected with wide receiver Brett Landis for a 36-yard pass in the third quarter.
  • Kicker Luke Paladino hit a 31-yarder with 1:10 left in the game to get the Red Foxes on the scoreboard.
 
Key Stats
  • Columbia had a 404-289 advantage in total yards and a 226-47 edge in rushing yards. 
  • Columbia was 8-for-16 on third downs and a perfect 2-for-2 on fourth downs.
  • Bagozzi and Arroyo combined to throw for 242 yards.
  • Clayborne Fields III led Marist with 11 tackles.
 
Notes
  • The 11 tackles by Fields tied a career high. Dating back to last season, Fields has notched at least 10 tackles in three straight games.
  • Fields was followed by Tyler Ruscher and Camron Ball with nine tackles apiece. Both set career highs.
  • With six receptions for 80 yards, Brett Landis led the Red Foxes and set career high in both categories.
  • Columbia kicker Alex Felkins drilled a 53 yards field goal, a Tenney Stadium record previously held at 52 yards as time expired to end the first half.
  • Marist is now 0-6 against Columbia all-time. This was the Lions' second trip to Tenney Stadium, with the first one coming in 2017.
