Marist Football Scores in Final Minute, Tops Drake

Red Foxes Nab First Win in Des Moines in Program History

 DES MOINES, Iowa – The Marist football team earned a 30-25 win at Drake in its Pioneer Football League opener on Saturday at Drake Stadium.
 
Keys to the Game
  • Trailing by one on its final drive, Amin Woods' six-yard rushing touchdown with 43 seconds left proved to be the game-winning score. The touchdown culminated a 14-play, 80-yard drive in 2:46.
  • Brock Bagozzi had touchdowns passing, rushing, and receiving. Bagozzi went 4-for-6 for 51 yards with 13 rushing yards on the Red Foxes' final drive.
 
Marist Highlights
  • A 55-yard punt by Dominic Donohue after Marist's first drive pinned Drake at its own nine.
  • After Drake opened the scoring, Bagozzi flicked a pass to Glenmour Leonard-Osbourne, who took it in from nine yards out for his first career touchdown.
  • Drake took a 10-7 lead after 15 minutes, but Marist took its first lead with 12:07 left in the second quarter as Scott Scherzer threw a four-yard touchdown pass to Bagozzi.
  • On a fake field goal attempt, Tyhir Harley snuffed the play out and recorded a sack for a 12-yard loss.

  • Bagozzi finished 25-for-38 for 257 yards through the air.
  • Scherzer and Woods led the Red Foxes with six receptions apiece. Woods had 14 carries for 50 yards, and six catches for 39 yards.
