Men's Soccer Falls to Cornell

Late Goal from Big Red Claims Victory

POUGHKEEPSIE, New York - In a back and fourth battle, Marist ultimately fell to Cornell 1-0 in Saturday evenings non-conference matchup. Kisa Kiingi scored the lone goal for the Big Red in the 69th minute.

 
Summary
  • In the fourth minute, a Demarre Montoute foul led to a penalty kick for Cornell. Samuel Ilin stretched out and made a diving save to keep the game knotted at 0-0.
  • With 10 minutes left in the first half, Jared Juleau got a clean look and striked it just over the top of the crossbar. Moments later, Liam Salmon fired a shot wide left.
  • In the 39th minute, Marist won a free kick right outside the box. Henrique Cruz ripped a shot bottom right, but the Cornell goalkeeper Ryan Friedberg was there for the save to keep it 0-0.
  • Ten minutes into the second half, Richard Morel made a move and fired a shot on target, but once again Friedberg was there to bat it away.
  • In the 69th minute, the Marist defense tried to play it out of the back, but Cornell was there to steal it and Kisa Kiingi fired a shot into the back of the net putting the Big Red up 1-0.
