Men's Soccer Victorious In Home Opener Against Albany

Red Foxes Win 2-1 Behind Goals from Morel and Juleau

POUGHKEEPSIE, New York - The Marist men's soccer team took down UAlbany on a rainy Monday night in Poughkeepsie by a final score of 2-1. Richard Morel and Jared Juleau scored for the Red Foxes.

Summary
  • Marist got out to a hot start, scoring in the second minute when Jared Juleau passed it to Richard Morel, who found the back of the net to give Marist a 1-0 lead.
  • In the 13th minute, Jared Juleau took advantage of a keeper miscue, firing a shot from over 30-yards out. Juleau placed it perfectly in the bottom right of the net, giving Marist an early 2-0 advantage. 
  • At the half, Marist held onto a 2-0 lead and led 8-4 in shots.
  • In the 57th minute, Albany took advantage of a foul committed inside the box. On the penalty kick, Pantelis Panteli beat the goalie to cut the Marist lead to just one.
  • In a sloppy and slippery final 30 minutes, Marist held on to win, 2-1.
