Men’s Basketball Drops Home Game to Rider

Salton Finishes with Career Highs in Points (13) & Rebounds (Seven)

POUGHKEEPSIE, New York - The Marist men's basketball team suffered a 68-52 loss against the Rider Broncs in a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference matchup.
 
Summary
  • A 15-0 run that was capped off by a Trace Salton mid-range jumper gave the Red Foxes an 18-7 advantage at the 11:15 mark.
  • A Patrick Gardner offensive rebound and layup gave Marist its largest lead of the first half, a 23-9 advantage with 9:26 remaining.
  • The Broncs went on a 10-2 run to cut the lead to 25-19 at the 5:47 mark.
  • Rider made four of its final five shot attempts to close the first half, and Marist's lead was cut to 30-29 after 20 minutes.
  • A 25-3 run over nine-and-a-half minutes of play gave the Broncs their largest lead of the game, a 57-35 advantage with 7:41 remaining in the second half.
  • With 2:40 remaining the Red Foxes were able to get within 12 points, but Rider shut out Marist the rest of the way.

Both Marist and Rider participated in Suits And Sneakers Week which ??is an initiative of Coaches vs. Cancer in conjunction with the National Association of Basketball Coaches. Coaches from across the country wear sneakers with their suits at their games during this week to raise awareness and funds for the American Cancer Society.
