Red Foxes Recover Three Fumbles

NEW YORK, New York – The Marist football team dropped a non-league game at Columbia of the Ivy League by a score of 16-0 on Saturday.
 
Scoring
  • A one-yard run by Ty'son Edwards gave Columbia a 6-0 lead with 6:21 left in the first quarter.
  • Hugo Merry's 40-yard field goal through a driving rain gave the Lions a 9-0 advantage with 6:26 left in the second.
  • Edwards' 22-yard touchdown run with 42 seconds left in the first half, plus Merry's extra point, accounted for the final points of the game.
 
Stats
  • Marist generated three turnovers. Mike Arrington recovered two fumbles, and Nick Vecchiarelli recovered a fumble that Kyle Coffindaffer forced.
  • Coffindaffer led the Red Foxes with seven tackles, which included six solo stops.
  • Dominic Dutton registered two sacks, had a forced fumble, and had four tackles.
  • Vecchiarelli finished with five tackles, a sack, and a fumble recovery.
  • Will Downes had team highs in receptions (eight) and receiving yards (69).
  • Marist drove inside the Columbia 40 five times, including four times in the second half.
 
Notes
  • Downes set a career high in receptions.
  • Coffindaffer tied his career high with seven tackles.
  • It was the first time Dutton had a two-sack game in his collegiate career, and the first time Arrington recovered two fumbles in a game.
