Men’s Basketball Topples Bucknell in Home Opener

Red Foxes Shoot .560 From Field, Drain 12 Threes in 24-Point Triumph

POUGHKEEPSIE, New York – The Marist men's basketball team earned a 73-49 victory over Bucknell of the Patriot League in its home opener on Saturday at McCann Arena.
 
Summary
  • Marist never trailed in the game.
  • The Red Foxes went on an 11-0 run, which included two three-pointers from Noah Harris and one from Josh Pascarelli, to take a 24-9 lead at the 9:10 mark of the first half.
  • Marist led by 15 on three other occasions in the first half, and took a 39-27 halftime lead.
  • The Red Foxes took the first 20-plus point lead of the game on a steal and layup by Trace Salton with 14:36 remaining. This play was part of a 10-0 run which saw Marist advance its lead to 52-29 at the 13:31 mark, and the Red Foxes led by at least 20 the rest of the way.
  • Isaiah Brickner's layup with 6:12 to go gave Marist its largest lead at 63-34.

  • Harris led all scorers with 15 points. He shot 5-for-7 from three-point range and added three assists, two rebounds, and a steal.
  • Jaden Daughtry finished with 12 points, three rebounds, three blocked shots, an assist, and a steal. Daughtry shot 5-for-6 from the field and 2-for-2 from three-point range.
  • Jackson Price scored nine points and had a game-high nine rebounds.
  • Marist shot .560 (28-for-50) from the field, .522 (12-for-23) from three-point range, and .833 (5-for-6) from the free-throw line.
  • Josh Bascoe led Bucknell with 14 points.
  • The Red Foxes held Jack Forrest, Bucknell's leading scorer entering the contest at 16.6 points per game, to two points on 1-for-14 shooting from the field.
  • Marist held Bucknell to .288 (17-for-59) shooting from the field and .200 (7-for-35) from three-point range.
 
Notes
  • This was Marist's largest margin of victory since a 25-point win at Monmouth on Feb. 8, 2022.
  • This marked the eighth time in head coach John Dunne's tenure that the Red Foxes held the opposition under 50 points.
  • Marist shot over 50 percent from the field three times in five games this season.
  • Daughtry's 12 points and three blocked shots were career highs. He recorded all three of his blocked shots in the first 10:07 of game time.
  • Max Allen II went 2-for-2 from the line and extended his consecutive made free throws streak to 11.
