Women's Basketball Defeated in Close Canisius Matchup

The Red Foxes Losing Streak Extends to Eight

POUGHKEEPSIE, New York - The Marist women's basketball team was defeated by Canisius 67-62 on Monday afternoon.

  • The first quarter saw Kiara Fisher score 11 points in the first five minutes of the game.
  • Julia Corsentino and Jackie Piddock tacked on buckets of their own before the end of the quarter as well.
  • Despite the Red Foxes strong offensive start, the quarter still ended with the Griffs leading 18-16.
QTR 2
  • Zaria Shazer scored the first six points of the second frame for the Red Foxes.
  • Lexie Tarul and Shazer were the only players to score for the rest of the Quarter for Marist.
  • In spite of the this, the Red Foxes led at the half with a score of 26-25.
QTR 3
  • Shazer scored the first points of the third quarter with a three-pointer.
  • Despite the Red Foxes start, Canisius began to take control of the game.
  • The Griffs asserted themselves as they closed out the third with a 51-40 scoreline.
QTR 4
  • During the final frame, the Red Foxes did everything they could to regain control of the game with a surge of offense to cut the Griffs lead down to five at various points.
  • After going scoreless in the middle two frames, Fisher chipped in with 10 points.
  • However, the Red Foxes were unable to come back completely and were eventually defeated 67-62

  • Kiara Fisher led the Red Foxes in scoring with 21 points. She tacked on six assists and three rebounds as well.
  • Zaria Shazer scored 15 points, had five rebounds, three assists and three steals.
  • Julia Corsentino shot 50% percent from the field, collecting 12 points.
