POUGHKEEPSIE, New York - The Marist men's basketball team defeated Niagara by a score of 61-52 in a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference matchup at McCann Arena on Sunday afternoon.

With 1:32 remaining, Patrick Gardner scored his 2,000th collegiate point on a free throw. This total includes his time as Nassau Community College, Saint Michael's, and Marist.

- Marist jumped out to an early 6-0 lead in the first three minutes as Isaiah Brickner scored a quick five points.
- A Red Foxes' scoring drought that lasted six minutes allowed the Purple Eagles to go on a 10-0 run and take a 10-6 lead at the 11:22 mark.
- A Javon Cooley driving layup gave Marist a 20-17 advantage with 4:57 remaining in the first half.
- The Purple Eagles took a 26-24 lead into the locker room. There were seven ties and seven lead changes throughout the first half.
