Women’s Soccer Drops Match to UConn

Red Foxes Open Conference Play Saturday, Sep. 9

STORRS, Connecticut - The Marist women's soccer team was defeated in a non-conference match against UConn. The Red Foxes fell to the Huskies 5-0 Wednesday, Sep. 6.

Quote from Coach
  • "I thought this game showed our character; if we want to be one of the best teams in the MAAC we have to play some of the best competition we can for our non-conference schedule and UCONN was just that," said Head Coach Nicole Pacapelli. "They are an NCAA caliber team and we stayed organized, compact and were difficult to break down for them. We struggled to track on some crosses and set pieces keeping up with their athleticism but I'm proud of how the girls competed for 90 minutes. Today without a doubt made us better and we are ready to compete in the MAAC!"

Summary
  • UConn opened the scoring early at the sixth minute to take a 1-0 lead.
  • Chloe Landers extended the Huskies lead to 2-0 with just five minutes remaining in the first half.
  • UConn continued to add to their lead in the second half, 4-0 in the 66th minute.
