Marist Drops Back-And-Forth Road Contest at Niagara

Daughtry Scores Career-High 17 Points

NIAGARA UNIVERSITY, New York – The Marist men's basketball team fell at Niagara by a score of 67-62 in a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference game at the Gallagher Center on Friday night.
 
Summary
  • There were four lead changes in the first five-plus minutes.
  • A jump hook by Max Allen II staked Marist to a 13-9 lead at the 13:20 mark, but Niagara countered with a 6-0 run to take the lead back.
  • A pair of free throws by Braxton Bayless staked Niagara to a 29-21 lead, its largest of the first half.
  • Marist hit three three-pointers (two by Kam Farris, one by Jackson Price) in the final 2:36 of the half, and cut Niagara's lead to 41-38 after 20 minutes.
  • Marist re-claimed the lead by scoring the first four points of the second half.
  • Neither team led by more than three in the first 11 minutes of the second half until a Jaden Daughtry three-pointer gave Marist a 53-48 advantage.
  • Niagara took back the lead at 61-60 on two Luke Bumbalough free throws with 3:22 remaining. However, a bucket by Allen on the ensuing possession gave Marist back the lead.
  • Braxton Bayless' jumper gave Niagara back the lead at 63-62 with 1:36 left. The Purple Eagles led the rest of the way as the Red Foxes didn't score in the final 2:57.
