SATURDAY OCT. 19
Red Fox Navy Alumni Men's Eight in the Alumni Eights Category
The alumni eight consisted of Ryan Lillis '18 (cox), Dmitrey Guenther Capt '21 (stroke), Chris Rechen Capt '20 (7), Jordan Irving Capt '22 (6), Alexander Missert '22 (5), Liam Cusack Capt '23 (4),
Axel Anderegg-Durwood '24 (3), Raymond Mattingly Capt '19 (2), Sam Klamar '17 (Bow). This crew started in the 18th position based on their performance in 2023. Post olympic years are typically very fast in the alumni race with many olympic athletes returning to race with their alma mater following their olympic cycle and so the Marist crew was expecting a stiff challenge to hold their position but the boat had a great showing and ended up moving up one spot to take 17th overall beating several serious crew from teams like Georgetown, Stanford, Oregon State, Temple and Columbia. Uniquely this boat contained at least one member of each graduating class of Marist oarsmen from 2017 to 2024!

The Collegiate Eight consisted of
Matthew Wright (cox),
Jack Taddei (stroke), Adam Wittman (7), Will Shockley (6), Reed Livingston (5),
Matthew Roscoe (4),
Austin Thomas (3),
Connor Tandy (2),
Thomas Graves (Bow). Marist used an aggressive start to put pressure on crew from Fairfield in front of them and passed the Stags in the early part of the race to set upm a clean line through the rest of the race course. The boat started in the 29th positions and finished in a time of 15.22.48 to place 20th overall in the event. This was a significant improvement over Marist's 2023 performance where the boat placed 33rd. This placing earns the crew an automatic entry for the 2025 event and an opportunity for an even more competitive result in the coming year. The winner of the Event was LaSalle University.

Men's Varsity Four in the Collegiate Fours Category
The Collegiate Four consisted of
Tessa Kurtzman (cox)
Tristan Wistuba (stroke),
James Hadjandreas (3),
Ian Sondhof (2),
Drew Ngo (bow). Having not raced in this event in 2023, the boat was a relative unknown and started behind a crew from Alabama and ahead of Tulane. This crew started in the 32nd position and pulled a time of 17.10.65 to place 10th overall marking a considerable improvement over their seeding and including some extremely technical driving by coxswain
Tessa Kurtzman as she was driving through several tight bridges with multiple crews across. This performance sets of the Marist Four to return with an automatic entry in 2025 like the eight and sets this crew in a position to strike for the top 5 on the podium.

"It was a great weekend to be a Red Fox this weekend with lots of activity for Marist oarsmen past, present, and future on the banks of the Charles in idea fall weather and surrounded by the best and brightest of the international rowing community. The Red Fox Navy Alumni demonstrated the consistency and technical ability that made them great competitors in the past and improved their position among a highly talented fleet beating several boats containing Olympic athletes. The varsity eight returned Marist to automatic requalification in the top 50% of the fleet and demonstrated that the crew is on track to significantly improve from our 2023-24 campaign. The varsity four demonstrated our team depth and set the crew up to return for a possible medal in 2025. Of the 14 Marist athletes in attendance at the race, 8 were underclassmen including 5 freshmen and 3 sophomores indicating that the team has a bright future ahead and we are on the path to improvement. Go Red Foxes!" - Men's Rowing Head Coach, Campbell Woods
