Valparaiso Slips Past Marist

Downes Finishes with 78 Yards Receiving Plus TD, Werner Notches 13 Stops

POUGHKEEPSIE, New York – The Marist football team fell to Valparaiso, 17-14, in a Pioneer Football League contest at Tenney Stadium on Saturday.
 
Summary
  • After Valparaiso scored on its opening drive, Marist answered on its opening with a one-yard touchdown run by Tristan Shannon. The score was 7-7 after 15 minutes.
  • Marist took a 14-7 lead on an eight-yard touchdown pass from Sonny Mannino to Will Downes. However, Valparaiso answered with 18 seconds left in the half on Mike Mansaray's second rushing touchdown of the game. The teams went to the locker room tied at 14.
