POUGHKEEPSIE, New York- The Marist women's soccer team played to a draw against Merrimack at Tenney Stadium, Saturday afternoon.
Maddy Catalanotti saved seven shots on the way to a clean sheet in the Red Foxes Breast Cancer Awareness match.
The Red Foxes and Warriors played to a 0-0 draw in the Red Foxes in their sixth MAAC match of the season. The Red Foxes moved to 2-7-2 overall and 2-3-1 in MAAC play, while the Warriors moved too 5-5-2 overall and 3-2-1 in conference play.
- "We spoke today about putting our stamp on the game and I felt our girls did that right away in the first half, getting an opportunity in the first minute of the game and getting shots on goal with dangerous crosses against a tough opponent! We continue to build in the right direction and know how important points are for us each and every game and we got one!"
- Sofia Cassano recorded the Red Foxes shot of the match in the seventh minute of the match.
- Maddy Catalanotti saved the Warriors first shot on goal of the match in the eighth minute, which started a defensive battle between the two teams.
- With three minutes left in the first half, Julia Loncar attempted the Red Foxes first shot on goal. The shot was saved by Merrimack's goalkeeper.
- At the end of the first half, the Red Foxes and Warriors were tied at 0-0.
- The Red Foxes out-shot the Warriors 6-5 in the first half.
- Catalanotti recorded three saves in the first half, which kept the match scoreless.
- To start the second half, Catalanotti continued her clean sheet with a save 22 seconds into the second half.
- Cassano recorded the Red Foxes only shot on goal in the 56th minute of the match. The shot was saved by the Warriors goalkeeper.
- The Red Foxes and Warriors ended the match with a draw 0-0 at Tenney Stadium.
