STONY BROOK, NY. – Junior
Jackie Piddock led the Marist women's basketball team in scoring with 10 points, but it wasn't enough as the Red Foxes came up short against Stony Brook on the road, 69-49, inside Stony Brook Arena on Monday evening.
With the loss, Marist fell to 2-2 in the early campaign, while Stony Brook improved to 3-1 to open the season.

The Seawolves held Marist to 25.0% shooting from the floor and forced the Red Foxes to commit seven turnovers in the frame, as Stony Brook took a 27-12 advantage into the second quarter.

Marist's offensive struggles continued in the second quarter as Stony Brook held the Red Foxes to seven points on 16.7% shooting, taking a 40-19 lead into the half.

The Seawolves opened the second half with a swift 6-2 run to take a 25-point lead, its largest of the contest. The Red Foxes responded with a 9-2 run to trim the deficit to 48-30, before going into the the fourth trailing 53-31.

The Red Foxes cut the deficit to as close as 16 points in the fourth, but the gap proved too much for Marist as the Red Foxes came up short, 69-49.

- Marist will be back in action on Thursday, Nov. 21, when the Red Foxes travel to take on St. John's.
