QUEENS, NY. – Redshirt junior
Lexie Tarul led the Marist women's basketball team in scoring with a career-high 18 points, but it wasn't enough as the Red Foxes were downed by St. John's on the road, 69-49, inside Carnesecca Arena on Thursday evening.
With the loss, Marist fell to 2-3 in the early campaign, while St. John's improved to 5-0 to open the season.

The Red Storm got off to a fast start, jumping out to a 13-2 lead before Marist called a timeout with 6:42 left in the frame. After falling behind 17-2, the Red Foxes were able to claw back to a 13-point deficit at 25-12 entering the second quarter.

Marist's offensive struggles continued in the second quarter as St. John's held the Red Foxes to five points on 10.5% shooting, taking a 40-17 lead into the half.

The Red Foxes were even with the Red Storm, 17-17 in the frame, as St. John's carried a 57-34 lead into the final quarter.

The Red Foxes cut the deficit to as close as 14 points in the fourth, but the gap proved too much for Marist as the Red Foxes eventually came up short, 69-49.
