POUGHKEEPSIE, NY. – Redshirt Junior
Lexie Tarul scored a team-high 14 points to lead Marist women's basketball past Yale, 67-65, in a nail-biter inside McCann Arena on Tuesday evening.

Morgan Lee totaled 13 points, and freshman
Danielle Williamsen added seven points, sinking both free throw attempts in the final seconds to secure the home victory over the Bulldogs. Williamsen also led the Red Foxes with eight rebounds and two steals.
With the win, Marist improved to 3-3 on the early campaign, and 3-0 on their home court, while Yale fell to 1-6 to open the season.

Yale held a 17-15 lead at the end of a highly-contested opening quarter.
Julia Corsentino led the Red Foxes with five points.
Jackie Piddock added four points.

Marist opened the second quarter with a 9-1 run to take a 24-18 lead, forcing a Yale timeout with 7:09 remaining.
Marist took a commanding 35-24 lead into the halftime break. Tarul was the leading scorer for the Red Foxes in the first half with nine points.

The Bulldogs opened the second half with an 11-4 scoring run to shorten the deficit to 39-37, forcing a Marist timeout with 6:49 remaining. The teams were tied at 43 apiece at the media timeout with just under five minutes remaining.
Mackenzie Egger drained a triple as time expired to tie the game 51-51 going into the fourth quarter.

The Bulldogs opened the final quarter with a 12-4 scoring run to go ahead 63-55. Marist trailed by as many as eight points in the final quarter, but the Red Foxes went on a 12-2 run in the final four minutes in order to secure the win.

Williamsen drained both free throw attempts with eight seconds remaining to put the Red Foxes ahead 67-65, eventually holding on for the two-point victory.
