On Sunday, the Marist men's rowing team traveled to Princeton, NJ to compete in the Princeton Chase Regatta. Raced along a three mile stretch of the beautiful Carnegie Lake, the regatta is a team favorite and hosts important regional and national level oarsmen in what for most is their final racing opportunity for the fall season. Crews raced in a head racing or time trial format going single file over a fixed course competing for the best possible time. Marist had an eight entered in the varsity eight event. This crew then broke up into smaller boats and raced in a coxed four and three pairs in the afternoon.
The varsity eight competed first for this event and consisted of
Matthew Wright (cox),
Jack Taddei (stroke), Adam Wittman (7), Will Shockley (6), Reed Livingston (5),
Tristan Wistuba (4),
Austin Thomas (3),
Connor Tandy (2),
Thomas Graves (bow). This crew had a great run down the course passing a crew from Mass Maritime Academy and nearly passing a second crew from Mercyhurst College. They pulled a time of 13:28.7 and placed 26th out of 41.
The varsity four consisted of
Tessa Kurtzman (cox),
Jack Taddei (stroke), Adam Wittman (3),
Connor Tandy (2), and
Thomas Graves (bow). This crew pulled a time of 15:29.6 and placed 19th out of 24 crews
The Varsity Pairs raced in an event with three Marist Pairs and just one other competitor from Princeton University. While Princeton won this even the three Marist crew had some great internal competition placing 2nd, 3rd and 4th with times of 16:35.5, 17.00.8 and 17.36.5 respectively. The Marist "A" crew consisted of
Tristan Wistuba and
James Hadjandreas, the "B" crew consisted of Will Shockley and Reed Livingston and the "C" crew consisted of
Ian Sondhof and
Austin Thomas.

"We had another beautiful day on lake Carnegie this year and closed out a formative fall season for our young crew. The varsity eight got the job done today significantly and measurably improving on their showing at last week's Head of the Schuylkill Result and showing some more glimpses of a bright and fast future if our athletes continue to develop! We're excited for winter training and the opportunities on tap to get faster in the off season!" - Head Coach, Campbell Woods
