PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – Redshirt junior
Lexie Tarul scored a career-best 17 points to lead the Marist women's basketball team, but it wasn't enough as Drexel downed the Red Foxes, 64-53, in the 2024-25 season-opener inside the Daskalakis Athletic Center Thursday evening.
Tarul knocked down three three-pointers en route to scoring a career-high 17 points, while
Morgan Lee added 16 points, four rebounds, and four assists in the loss.
With the loss, Marist opens the season at 0-1, while Drexel starts the 2024-25 campaign at 1-0 with the victory.

The Dragons got off to a hot start, using the opening 2:43 to jump out to a 7-0 advantage, forcing an early Marist timeout to halt the momentum. Out of the break, the Red Foxes responded with five straight points behind a layup from
Morgan Lee and a
Danielle Williamsen three-pointer.
The Red Foxes used the final 38 seconds to close the half with a 6-3 run behind back-to-back three-pointers from Lee and
Jackie Piddock to cut the deficit to 15-11 entering the second quarter.
After falling behind 28-16 in the frame, the Red Foxes cut the deficit back to single digits at 31-22 with 2:44 left in the half. However, Drexel closed the frame with a 7-0 run to carry a 38-22 lead into the second half.

The Red Foxes opened the third quarter with an 8-0 run behind two three-pointers from
Lexie Tarul to force a Drexel timeout with Marist trailing 38-30 with 7:24 left in the frame.
From the timeout, Marist was able to trim the deficit to 38-32 before Drexel responded with an 11-4 run to push its lead to 49-36 entering the fourth.

The Red Foxes were unable to overcome the double-digit deficit, eventually falling 64-53 in the opener.
