POUGHKEEPSIE, New York- Head coach Dave Scarcello announced the men's lacrosse captains for the 2025 season, Friday afternoon. The Red Foxes have appointed four captains to lead the Red Foxes to a successful upcoming season.

The Red Foxes named Joshua Balcarcel, Sam Ferrel, Ryan Jones, and Aiden McCaffrey as captains.

I want to congratulate Josh, Aiden, Sam, and Ryan for the honor of being named captains for the 2025 season. Each of these guys has their own unique leadership style and I think it serves as a great microcosm of our team's leadership group as a whole. We have had an excellent fall with numerous members of the team stepping forward to lead in more ways than one. These four have done a phenomenal job in standing out amongst their peers and it was very prevalent in the way the team voted this fall. Our staff is very excited to continue working with this leadership group and look forward to the impact they will have on this team as we enter our 2025 spring season.

#34 Joshua Balcarcel

• Started all 15 games as a senior for the Red Foxes.
• Balcarcel scored 30 goals and 21 assists during the 2024 season.
• Balcarcel tallied 24 ground balls for the Red Foxes in 2024.
• Balcarcel was named All-MAAC First Team, MAAC All-Academic Team, and CSC Academic All-District during the 2024 season.
• Balcarcel was selected to wear No. 34 during the 2024 season, to honor Eddie Coombs.

  

#16 Sam Ferrel

• Started in all 15 games as a junior during the 2024 season.
• Ferrel recorded nine goals and 12 assists for the Red Foxes during the 2024 campaign.
• Ferrel was named MAAC All-Academic Team during the 2024 season.

 

#39 Ryan Jones

• Jones appeared in 13 games during the 2024 season.
• Jones collected nine ground balls and recorded one caused turnover for the Red Foxes.
• Jones was named MAAC All-Academic Team during the 2024 season.

  

#19 Aiden McCaffrey

• McCaffrey started in all 15 games as a junior during the 2024 season.
• McCaffrey recorded 34 caused turnovers, setting the Marist single-season record.
  • Led the MAAC in caused turnovers and placed fifth in the NCAA.
• McCaffrey collected 48 ground balls during the 2024 season.
• McCaffrey's 2.27 caused turnovers per game led the MAAC and posted him fourth in the country in the category.
• McCaffrey was named All-MAAC Second Team and MAAC All-Academic team during the 2024 season.
