NORTH ANDOVER, Massachusetts - The Marist volleyball team was defeated by Merrimack on Saturday afternoon 3-2.
This marks the first time in the 2024 season that the Red Foxes were defeated despite taking the first two sets.
Sara Dasic earned a double-double with 18 kills and 15 digs.
Alyssa White hit for .400 with eight kills.

The first set was a tightly contested battle throughout its early stages. It was only with the score at 10-8 in favor of the Warriors that the Red Foxes began to take control of momentum. The Red Foxes would go on a seven-point rally, forcing the Warriors to call a timeout.
Though they would try, the Warriors were unable to come back from that deficit, which eventually ended 25-18.

The Red Foxes would start the second frame much stronger, taking an early five-point lead with the score sitting at 10-5. Kills from
Sara Dasic and
Taylor Miller would help the Red Foxes continue keeping the Warriors at bay.
The Red Foxes would eventually take the set 25-16.

The Warriors would take control of the match early in the third, storming out to a four-point lead without the Red Foxes recording a single point. The Warriors lead would extend to six-points with the score sitting at 10-4. The Red Foxes would then rally, going on to tie the score at 13-13 thanks in large part to four Marist service aces. The warriors would then go on a ten and five run to put a stop to the Red Foxes efforts to close out the match.
The Warriors would go on to take the set 25-22.

Merrimack would once again have a strong start in the fourth set, scoring three unanswered points. Despite this, Marist would score the next three, taking away the advantage from the home team. A subsequent four-point rally from the home team would once again return the momentum to the Warriors. It was later on in the set that the Warriors would really gain the edge over the Red Foxes, going on an unanswered six-point rally, putting Merrimack ahead 18-9.
The Red Foxes did not have the answer for Merrimack's surging offense, dropping the set 25-15.

The early stages of the final frame was all Marist, as the Red Foxes jumped out to a 7-2 lead. A timeout called by the Warriors with the Red Foxes leading 12-8 would successfully put a stop to the visiting teams momentum.
The Warriors would then go on an 8-1 run to successfully secure the comeback victory.
