WORCESTER, MA. – Marist women's basketball was unable to overcome a slow offensive start, as Holy Cross downed the Red Foxes, 66-49, inside Hart Center Arena on Tuesday morning to wrap up the non-conference slate.
Morgan Lee led the Red Foxes with 13 points, while
Julia Corsentino contributed 12 points of her own in the loss.
With the loss, Marist closes non-conference play at 5-5, while Holy Cross improved to 6-4 on the campaign.

The Red Foxes got off to a slow start, as the Crusaders used the opening 5:49 of the contest to jump out to an early 11-4 advantage into the media timeout. Holy Cross held Marist to two points the rest of the period to carry a 19-6 lead into the second quarter.

The Crusaders defensive blitz continued, as Holy Cross used the first six minutes of the frame to stretch its lead to 31-10, before taking a 39-19 advantage into halftime.

The Red Foxes used the opening four minutes of the half to outscore Holy Cross 9-6 to trim the deficit to 45-28. Ultimately, the two sides played evenly at 11-11 for the frame as the Crusaders took a 50-30 lead into the fourth.

The Red Foxes were able to cut the Holy Cross lead to as close as 10 points within two minutes left in regulation, however, the deficit proved to be too much as the Crusaders held on for the eventual 66-49 victory.

- Marist will be back in action on Thursday, Dec. 19, when the Red Foxes travel to take on Mount St. Mary's in the MAAC opener.
