POUGHKEEPSIE, New York – Three Marist football players were named to the Pioneer Football League All-Academic Teams, which combine performances on the field and in the classroom, on Wednesday.

Chris Leonardo
Leonardo earned a First Team honor for the second straight year. He started all 11 games at right tackle for the second straight year. He is an Economics major, a three-time selection to Marist's Dean's List, and a two-time selection to the PFL Academic Honor Roll. Leonardo played 774 of Marist's 814 offensive snaps (95 percent), surrendered just two sacks on 388 pass attempts (.5 percent sack rate), and anchored an offensive line which increased in production in several statistical categories.

Gannon McCorkle
McCorkle was named Honorable Mention All-PFL yesterday on the defensive line, and he was a national semifinalist for this year's Campbell Trophy. He was named a captain in his first year at Marist after joining the program as a graduate transfer from Dartmouth, where he was a dual major in Economics and Environment Studies. McCorkle is pursuing his Master's degree in Marketing Communication at Marist. He was tied for third in the PFL with nine tackles for loss in league play.

Tristan Shannon
Shannon was named Second Team All-PFL yesterday as a return specialist and being named Honorable Mention at return specialist and all-purpose last year. He topped 1,000 all-purpose yards for the second straight season, finishing with 1,034 in 2024 with 542 coming on kickoff and punt returns. Shannon is a five-year member of the program who majored in Games and Emerging Media as an undergraduate, and he is currently pursuing his Master's in Information Systems.

To be eligible for Academic All-PFL consideration, a student-athlete must be a starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative grade-point average of 3.30 on a scale of 4.00, reach his second season academically, and have played at least one full season at his current institution.
