Zaria Shazer scored a team-high 17 points and added seven rebounds to lead Marist women's basketball, however, it wasn't enough as the Red Foxes' fell short against Canisius on the road, 68-52, Thursday evening inside the Koessler Athletic Center.
With the loss, Marist fell to 5-18 on the campaign and 3-10 in the MAAC, while Canisius improved to 13-10 overall and 8-6 in conference play on the 2023-24 season.

The Red Foxes used the opening 4:16 of the frame to jump out to a 7-3 lead, taking a four-point lead into the media timeout midway through the first quarter.
However, the Golden Griffins closed the frame with an 11-7 advantage to knot the contest at 14-14 entering the second.

Canisius kept applying pressure, opening the second quarter with a 10-2 run to carry a 24-16 lead into the media timeout with 4:32 remaining in the first half. The Red Foxes were unable to close the gap, as the Golden Griffins carried a 38-24 lead into halftime.

The Golden Griffins opened the second half with a 15-6 run to extend the lead to 53-30 before taking a 55-35 advantage into the fourth quarter.

The Red Foxes closed the gap to as close as 16 points in the fourth, but the deficit proved to be too great as Marist eventually came up short in the 68-52 loss.
