NIAGARA FALLS, New York – Zaria Shazer and
Morgan Lee scored 14 points apiece to lead Marist women's basketball, however, it wasn't enough as the Red Foxes' closed its road trip with a loss against Niagara, 90-64, Saturday afternoon inside the Gallagher Center.
With the loss, Marist fell to 5-19 on the campaign and 3-11 in the MAAC, while Niagara improved to 14-11 overall and 11-4 in conference play on the 2023-24 season.
Morgan Lee had it going early for the Red Foxes, as she scored four of Marist's first six points as Niagara took a 13-6 lead into the media timeout with 4:49 left in the first quarter. Out of the timeout, the Purple Eagles used the remainder of the frame to outpace the Red Foxes, 13-9, to take a 26-15 lead into the second quarter.
The Red Foxes held the Purple Eagles scoreless over the first 1:16 of the frame, trimming the deficit to single digits during that span, forcing a Niagara timeout.
After falling behind 29-17, the Red Foxes responded with a 7-1 run, capped by a
Jackie Piddock three-pointer to trim the deficit to 30-24 with 5:26 left in the half.
However, Niagara closed the frame with a 14-5 run to take a 44-29 advantage into the break.
The Purple Eagles used the opening 5:23 of the second half to go on a 20-7 run, extending their lead to 64-36 before taking a 69-42 advantage into the fourth quarter.
The deficit proved to be too great for the Red Foxes, as Niagara held on for the eventual 90-64 victory.

- Morgan Lee scored a career-high 14 points and added five rebounds
- Julia Corsentino contributed 12 points and recorded a career-high four steals
- Lexie Tarul and Jackie Piddock scored eight points apiece in the loss
- Catie Cunningham recorded four points and 10 rebounds
- Kiara Fisher notched seven assists in the contest
- She's recorded six or more assists in eight games this season
- The Red Foxes will be back in action on Thursday, Feb. 22, when Marist continues MAAC play at home against Mount St Mary's.
- Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. inside McCann Arena on ESPN+.
