STATEN ISLAND, New York - The Marist men's track & field team competed with a partial squad at Friday's Metropolitan Championships meet at Ocean Breeze. Despite a 10th-place finish out of 15 teams, the Red Foxes turned in several impressive individual performances.
Competing for the first time season, Chris Paxis (1:55.74) ran a strong race, securing a third-place finish in the 800-meter run.
Also competing for the first time in 2024, Christopher Boston made the finals for the 60-meter dash, winning his preliminary heat with a time of 7.05 seconds. Boston finished seventh in the finals with a time of 7.23.
Led by Dennis Love (8:55.02, 5th), all three student-athletes in the 3,000-meter run ran personal best times. Mason Mayer (8:57.61, 7th) gave the Red Foxes another scorer in the event and Alexander Pattison finished in 11th with a time of 9:07.46.
Jeremy Mbogo gave Marist a top-five finish in the 5,000-meter run setting a new personal record of 15:13.01, and beating his previous PR by nearly 30 seconds. Ryan Wisker (15:40.64, 8th) and Jack Dovaras (15:43.12, 10th) gave the Red Foxes three top-10 finishers as they each set new personal records as well.
Kevin Lee secured a top-five finish in the triple jump with a distance of 13.13m.
