Men's Lacrosse Set for Saturday Road Matchup With Hofstra

Red Foxes Aim to Move to 2-1 All-Time Against The Pride

HEMPSTEAD, New York – The Marist men's lacrosse team looks to get back on track this Saturday, as the Red Foxes travel to take on Hofstra for the first time since 2015. The contest is set to start at 3 p.m. on FloSports.
 
LAST TIME OUT
  • Joshua Balcarcel totaled three goals for a hat trick and added five groundballs as Marist men's lacrosse came up short on the road at UMass, 18-11, Tuesday afternoon on Garber Field.
  • The hat trick was the second of the season for Balcarcel.
  • Patrick totaled two goals and three groundballs in the loss.
  • Dylan Bedell won 16 of 30 faceoffs.
HE'S ON FIRE
  • Senior captain Joshua Balcarcel is off to a hot start offensively for the Red Foxes.
  • Balcarcel is tied for second in the MAAC in goals (9) and goals per game 3.00.
  • Balcarcel has totaled two hat tricks on the season thus far, scoring five goals in the opener against Bucknell and three goals on the road at UMass.
  • He is averaging 4.33 points per game, ranking fourth in the MAAC.
  • On the defensive side, he's totaled 10 groundballs on the season in three contests.
SCOUTING HOFSTRA
  • Marist will take on Hofstra for the third time in program history.
  • The two sides have split in its two meetings, with Marist winning the last contest 11-8 on April 7, 2015 in Hempstead.
  • Hofstra is 3-1 on the season and has won its last two contests.
  • The Pride downed Siena 14-12 in its last time out on Feb. 17.
  • John Madsen leads the Pride with 16 goals on the season, while Rory Jones has totaled 13 of his own.
  • Sean Henderson is 3-1 in net and boasts 38 saves on the campaign.

  • The Red Foxes will be back in action on Saturday, March 2, when Marist travels to take on Bellarmine
