POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. – Zaria Shazer and
Catie Cunningham tallied a double-double apiece to lead Marist women's basketball in its loss against Siena at home, 71-67, Saturday evening inside McCann Arena.
Shazer totaled 23 points and 10 rebounds in the contest, while Cunningham notched 12 points and 14 rebounds in the loss.
With the loss, Marist fell to 5-15 on the campaign and 3-7 in the MAAC, while Siena improved to 11-8 overall and 8-3 in conference play on the 2023-24 season.

The two sides exchanged scores early on with Siena carrying an 8-4 lead into the media timeout midway through the frame. Out of the timeout, the Saints closed the quarter by outscoring the Red Foxes 8-4 to carry a 16-8 advantage into the second.

After falling behind 22-12, the Red Foxes responded with a 6-2 run to trim the deficit to 24-18 with 4:56 remaining in the first half at the media timeout.
After Siena pushed its lead to 26-18, Marist closed the half with a 9-2 run to trim the deficit to 29-28 at the break.
The Red Foxes came out firing to open the second half, going 6-for-10 from the floor over the first five minutes of action to push ahead 41-38 into the media timeout.
The two sides were nearly even the rest of the frame, as they entered the fourth tied at 50-50.

After falling behind 54-50, Marist responded with an 11-4 run, backed by back-to-back three-pointers from Tarul and
Zaria Shazer to force a Siena timeout with Marist leading 61-58 with 3:39 left in regulation.
However, Siena responded with a 12-6 run of their own to close the contest, holding on for the 71-67 victory over Marist.
