FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Senior
Kiara Fisher scored a team-best 17 points to lead Marist women's basketball in its loss against Fairfield on the road, 76-49, Thursday afternoon inside Leo D. Mahoney Arena.
With the loss, Marist fell to 5-16 on the campaign and 3-8 in the MAAC, while Fairfield improved to 20-1 overall and 12-0 in conference play on the 2023-24 season.

The two sides were nearly even through the 6:51 of action, with Fairfield carrying a 9-5 lead into the media timeout. The Stags held the Red Foxes scoreless for the remainder of the frame to carry a 14-5 lead into the second.

The Stags opened the second quarter with a swift 8-4 run to extend the lead to 22-9, forcing a Marist timeout with 6:27 remaining in the half. The Red Foxes responded with an 11-4 run behind six points from
Kiara Fisher to trim the deficit to 26-20. However, the Stags went into the break with a 35-25 advantage at the midway point of the contest.

The Red Foxes fell behind 37-25 before cutting the deficit down to 43-34 in the third. However, the Stags countered with a swift 5-0 run to push ahead 47-34, forcing a Marist timeout midway through the quarter. The Stags held the Red Foxes to just two points the remainder of the frame, taking a 56-36 lead into the fourth.

The Red Foxes were unable to close the gap, eventually falling short, 76-49.
