Marist Softball Tops Bucknell & Jacksonville

Red Foxes Allow Total of One Run in Two Victories

JACKSONVILLE, Florida – The Marist softball team won a pair of games on Tuesday.
 
The Red Foxes defeated Bucknell by a score of 3-0 in their first game of the day, and then defeated Jacksonville 2-1 in their second game.
 
Marist now stands at 15-5 this season. The Red Foxes have won 13 of their last 14.
 
Game One
  • Marist scored the game's first first run in the top of the second. Maddie Gore's squeeze bunt brought home Alyssa Grupp.
  • The Red Foxes added two more in the fifth. Kaitlyn Husic led off the inning with a home run. Peyton Pusey then singled, and she scored on an RBI triple by Miah McDonald.
  • Anna Sidlowski tossed a shutout. She allowed just five hits and one walk while striking out four.
  • Pusey finished 2-for-3 with a run scored, a walk, and a stolen base.
  • Marist outhit Bucknell, 6-5.
 
Game Two
  • Marist broke open a scoreless tie in the top of the fourth when Ronni Howard's two-run single brought home both Alyssa Grupp and Isabella Manory.
  • Jacksonville scored in the bottom of the fourth, but the inning ended with a running catch by Sidlowski in left field.
  • Kiley Myers tossed a three-hitter with four strikeouts.
  • Both teams had five hits. Sidlowski led the Red Foxes with two.
  • Grupp reached safely twice with a single and walk.

  • Marist concludes its stay in Florida with a doubleheader at Bethune-Cookman on Wednesday.
  • First pitch of game one is set for 10 a.m.
