POUGHKEEPSIE, NY. – Stephen Bickel and
Jake Deacy recorded a hat trick apiece, as Marist men's lacrosse earned its first MAAC victory of the season with a 20-16 win over Canisius Saturday afternoon inside Tenney Stadium.
Seven different Red Foxes scored two goals apiece, led by Bickel and Deacy's three scores each.
With the victory, Marist improved to 4-3 on the campaign and 1-1 in the MAAC, while Canisius fell to 2-6 in the 2024 season and 0-2.

- The Red Foxes struck first and often to open the match, jumping out to a 4-0 lead behind two goals from Stephen Bickel and a score apiece from Sean Mullen and Jake Deacy.
- However, the Golden Griffins closed the quarter with a 4-2 run to trim Marist's lead to 6-4 entering the second.
- Collin Patrick found Michael Cassano for a goal to open the second, pushing the Marist advantage to three before Canisius scored back-to-back goals to come within a score at 7-6.
- Christian Colantonio and Deacy scored back-to-back goals to extend the Red Foxes' lead to 9-6 entering halftime.
- Leading 9-7 in the third, Collin Patrick and Joshua Balcarcel joined in on the action and scored back-to-back goals to lift the Marist advantage to 11-7.
- After the Golden Griffins struck for two straight goals, Dylan Bedell, Sam Ferrel, and Bickel each put one home for the Red Foxes, giving Marist 14-9, before taking a 14-11 lead into the final frame.
- It was a back-and-forth affair to begin the final period with both teams scoring two goals apiece.
- However, Marist scored back-to-back man-up goals courtesy of Vinny Butrico and Colantonio to extend the lead to 18-13.
- Marist's lead reached as high as 20-14 before holding on for the eventual 20-16 victory.
- The Red Foxes will be back in action on Saturday, March 23, when Marist plays host to MAAC foe Quinnipiac.
- The opening face-off is set for 1 p.m. from Tenney Stadium on ESPN+.
