FAIRFIELD, Conn. – A slow start offensively doomed the Red Foxes, as Marist men's lacrosse came up short in the road comeback attempt against MAAC foe Sacred Heart Thursday evening inside Campus Field.
With the loss, Marist fell to 4-5 on the campaign and 1-3 in the MAAC, while Sacred Heart improved to 6-4 in the 2024 season and 4-0 in conference play.

- Sacred Heart struck first, scoring three times to jump out to a 4-0 lead with 3:59 left in the opening frame.
- After a Marist timeout, Sacred Heart scored a man–up goal to take a 5-0 lead into the second quarter.
- The Pioneers scored 13 seconds into the frame to push their lead to 6-0.
- Sacred Heart's lead reached 8-0 before the Red Foxes got on the board with a goal from Joshua Balcarcel with 10:35 left in the half.
- It would be the only goal of the half for the Red Foxes, as SHU carried a 10-1 advantage into the break.
- Sacred Heart scored a minute into the period to push the Pioneers' lead to 11-1.
- Drew Anderson responded for Marist's first goal of the second half to cut the deficit to 11-2 with 12:28 left in the third quarter.
- Jake Deacy and Sean Mullan helped trim the deficit to seven after scoring back-to-back goals to bring the score to 11-4 heading into the fourth.
- Dylan Bedell won the opening face-off and scored six seconds into the period to trim the deficit to 11-5.
- Deacy scored his second goal of the half with 11:02 remaining, however, Stephen Bickel added a score of his own to bring Marist within four with 10:06 left in regulation.
- SHU responded with a goal of their own to stop the bleeding to extend its lead to 12-7 with 7:23 left in the contest.

- The Red Foxes will be back in action on Saturday, March 30, when Marist plays host to MAAC foe Manhattan.
