Marist Softball’s Winning Streak Reaches 11

Red Foxes Sweep Presbyterian in Doubleheader

JACKSONVILLE, Florida – The Marist softball team began its Spring Break trip with a doubleheader sweep of Presbyterian on Friday at the Jacksonville Spring Break Challenge.
 
The Red Foxes defeated the Blue Hose by scores of 2-0 in game one and 14-1 in five innings in game two. With the two wins, Marist (13-4) extended its winning streak to 11 games.
 
Game One
  • Haley Ahr led off the top of the second with a home run for the game's first run.
  • In the seventh, Isabella Manory stole home on the front end of a double steal with Sophia Recrosio.
  • Kiley Myers tossed a four-hitter for her second straight shutout. Myers (5-2) struck out eight and did not walk anyone.
  • The Red Foxes outhit the Blue Hose, 7-4. Manory was the lone player in the game to have two hits.
 
Game Two
  • Marist scored seven in the bottom of the first. The inning was capped by Samantha Rogers' first home run as a Red Fox, a grand slam.
  • The Red Foxes added three in the second. Maddie Pleasants scored on a wild pitch. Taylor Anderson brought home Ahr and Alyssa Grupp with a single.
  • Miah McDonald belted a grand slam in the fourth to extend Marist's lead to 14-0.
  • Presbyterian scored its lone run in the top of the fifth.
  • Marist outhit Presbyterian, 14-3. The top five hitters in the Marist order (Peyton Pusey, McDonald, Pleasants, Ahr, and Grupp) all had two hits apiece, and combined to go 10-for-16 with nine runs scored and six RBIs.
  • Anna Sidlowski (6-1) pitched four shutout innings with three strikeouts to earn the win.
 
Up Next
  • Marist will have back-to-back games on Saturday afternoon in Jacksonville.
  • The Red Foxes will face North Florida at 2 p.m., followed by Jacksonville at 4:30.
