STATEN ISLAND, New York - Despite six goals combined from
Joshua Balcarcel and
Jake Deacy, the Marist men's lacrosse team came up short on the road against the Wagner Seahawks, falling 9-8.
With the loss, the Red Foxes move to 3-3 on the season, while the Seahawks improve to 1-5 with their first win.

- Christian Colantinio opened the scoring for the Red Foxes on an assist from Sean Mullan.
- Wagner responded with two goals to take a one point advantage with 7:47 left in the opening frame.
- Deacy found the back of the net on assist by Collin Patrick to tie the game.
- The Seahawks added two straight to increase their advantage to 4-2.
- With one second remaining Balcarcel made a spectacular play, finding the back of the net to get Marist back within one.
- Wagner struck first in the second quarter making it 5-3 with 6:13 to go in the half.
- The Red Foxes responded with two straight to the game at 5-5. Balcarcel tallied two assists as Deacy fired home his second and Stephen Bickel recorded his first.
- The Seahawks broke the tie, scoring with 7:45 left in the third to make it 6-5.
- Balcarcel came through with the equalizer for Marist with 21 seconds left in the period.
- Wagner found the back of the net twice in less than two minutes to retake the lead, making it 8-6 with 9:33 to go in the game.
- The Seahawks added one more with 5:16 left.
- Balcarcel and Deacy each scored their third goal of the game to get Marist within one with one minute left, but the Red Foxes could not get the equalizer as they lost 9-8.
- Balcarcel led the offense with three goals and two assists.
- Deacy recorded the hat trick.
- Collin Patrick tallied a trio of assists.
- The Red Foxes will be back in action on Saturday, March 16, when Marist returns home to play host to MAAC foe Canisius.
