Red Foxes Take on VMI For Shot in MAAC Tournament

LEXINGTON, Va. – The Marist men's lacrosse team heads to Lexington for a Saturday matinee MAAC matchup with VMI at noon. With a win over VMI, the Red Foxes will earn a spot in the MAAC Championships. 
 
LAST TIME OUT
  • Marist men's lacrosse used an 8-2 run in the second quarter to propel the Red Foxes past MAAC foe LIU, 15-8, at home inside Tenney Stadium on Saturday evening.
  • The Red Foxes were led by Sean MullanPeter Murray, and Joshua Balcarcel on offense, as the trio combined for nine goals and two assists for 11 points in the victory.
  • Mullan tallied four goals for four points on the evening
  • The hat trick marked his second of the season
  • Murray totaled three goals for three points Murray's hat trick marked his fourth in seven games this season

  • Noble Smith of the Marist men's lacrosse team was named the MAAC Defensive Player of the Week, announced Monday by the conference office. This marks the second time this season that Smith has garnered the award.
  • This is the 10th time this season that a Marist player has received a MAAC weekly award. 
  • Joshua Balcarcel and Sean Mullan have garnered an award apiece this season.
  • Smith, Aiden McCaffrey, and Collin Patrick have each earned MAAC honors twice this season.
  • Dylan Bedell has had three MAAC weekly selections.
 
SCOUTING VMI
  • Saturday's contest with VMI will mark the 21st matchup all-time for these two teams.
  • The last time these two played, Marist came away with an 18-7 victory over VMI on April 22, 2023 at home.
  • Jake Deacy led the offense with four goals, while three other Red Foxes scored two goals apiece in the victory.
  • VMI is 7-7 on the year coming into this matchup and are 3-5 in conference play.
