POUGHKEEPSIE, New York - The Marist softball team earned a home series victory against the Iona Gaels on Sunday.
After splitting Saturday's doubleheader, the Red Foxes earned a 7-1 victory in game three. Maddie Pleasants picked up her fifth win of the season with another strong performance in the circle. Miah McDonald, Haley Ahr, Alyssa Grupp, and Samantha Rogers each tallied an RBI for Marist.
- In the first inning, McDonald reached econd on an error. Ahr stepped up and knocked an RBI single to left field to give the Red Foxes an early 1-0 lead.
- Following Ahr, Pleasants walked and Grupp singled to load the bases for Marist. An Iona error allowed two more runs to come home, increasing the Red Foxes' lead to 3-0 at the end of the first.
- Peyton Pusey crushed a double to left center to get Marist started in the second. McDonald followed that with a single and an Iona error allowed Pusey to score.
- AÂ Grupp RBI single to the left side gave Marist a 5-0 lead through two innings.
- In the first at-bat of the third inning, Rogers launched a solo home run over the left-field fence to make it 6-0.
- Rowan Drew followed Rogers with a double. McDonald hit a double of her own to score Drew and increase the lead to 7-0 through three.
- Iona scored its only run of the game on a solo home run in the top of the seventh by MJ Nicholson.
- Marist tallied 10 hits.
- McDonald, Grupp, and Pleasants had two hits apiece. McDonald scored two runs.
- Pleasants tossed a three-hitter. She struck out six and walked just one.
- Marist has not dropped a MAAC series this season. The Red Foxes have four series wins and a 1-1 split with Siena.
- Sunday marked Joe Ausanio's 800th game as head coach of the Red Foxes.

- Marist improves to 28-14 on the season and 10-4 in the MAAC.
- Iona drops to 14-23 overall and 11-7 in conference play.
- Marist will play a three-game series at Saint Peter's on Tuesday, April 23 (doubleheader) and Wednesday, April 24 (single game).
- The first pitch on both days is set for noon.
