POUGHKEEPSIE, New York - The Marist track & field teams return to action this weekend with the Red Foxes heading to two different meets. This weekend will serve as a final tune-up for some and an opportunity to rest for others before the MAAC Outdoor Championships on May 4th and 5th.
33 student-athletes will stay close by and compete at the Vassar Twilight on Friday, while seven student-athletes are heading to the University of Pennsylvania to compete in Penn Relays on Saturday.
For those competing at Vassar, the meet will begin at 4:30 p.m., with the final event slated for 8:30 p.m. The Red Foxes will compete in a total of 14 events between men and women.
At Penn Relays the trio of Marissa Sciotto, Megan Hoffman, and Kyra Pellegrino will compete in the Women's U20/Olympic Development 5k Racewalk. The Red Foxes will also have a 4x800m relay team compete consisting of Parker O'Brien, Sierra Fisher, Kayla Hawkins, and Adele Alexander.Â
- Emily Litke gave the Red Foxes a fourth-place finisher in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 11:48.13.
- Samantha Kehler finished top-five in the women's 5k, crossing the line in 17:59.01.
- Four Red Foxes set personal records in the 400-meter dash. Cailin Horton (1:00.95, 7th) and Breelyn McNamara (1:01.25, 10th) gave the Red Foxes two top-10 finishers. Grace Fletcher (1:01.45, 12th) and Kayla Hawkins (1:01.72, 15th) ran personal best times in the event as well. Fletcher also set a personal record in the 200-meter dash with a time of 27.18 seconds.
- Sierra Fisher ran a personal record time of 4:44.99 to finish seventh in the 1,500-meter run.
- Marist had two more seventh-place finishers: Grace O'Neill (1.55 meters) in the high jump and Kiana Pathirana (10.87 meters) in the triple jump.
- Adele Alexander set a new personal best in the 800-meter run, finishing in 2:20.53 which was good for 11th place.
- Mason Mayer led the way for the Red Foxes, capturing a third-place finish in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a personal best time of 9:58.38.
- Noah Brown finished fifth in the pole vault with a jump of 4.10 meters (13 feet, 5.25 inches). Liam Haggerty used a season-best toss of 43.33 meters (142 feet, 2 inches) to secure sixth in the javelin throw.
- John Ignacz set a new personal record in the 5k, finishing in 15:22.32 which was good for 11th place.
- Weston Labrecque finished 21st in the 400-meter dash in a new personal record time of 52.39 seconds. Christopher Lynch achieved two new personal records today: 23.95 seconds in the 200 (42nd) and 52.86 seconds in the 400 (28th).
- Marist track & field will head to Lawrenceville, New Jersey to compete in the 2024 MAAC Outdoor Championships on Saturday May 4th and Sunday May 5th at Rider University.
