Softball Drops Senior Day Game to Canisius

McDonald’s Home Run Streak Extends to Five Straight Games

POUGHKEEPSIE, New York – The Marist softball team had its six-game winning streak snapped on Sunday at home. The Red Foxes fell to Canisius by a score of 6-4 in game three of the series.  

Prior to the game, Marist honored Alyssa Grupp and Sophia Recrosio on Senior Day.
 
Summary
  • In the bottom of the first inning, Miah McDonald hit a single, stole second, and reached home on a throwing error to give the Red Foxes a 1-0 lead.
  • Canisius responded with a two-run homer by Christie McGee-Ross in the top of the third to make the score 2-1.
  • McDonald hit a solo home run in the bottom of the third to tie the game at 2-2.
  • In the top of the fifth inning, Anna Sidlowski replaced Kiley Myers to pitch for Marist.
  • The Golden Griffins reclaimed the lead on an RBI single to make the score 3-2 in the top of the fifth inning.
  • In the bottom of the fifth inning, Peyton Pusey walked, McDonald singled, and Maddie Pleasants walked. With the bases loaded, Grupp hit a two-out single, scoring two runs to give the Red Foxes a 4-3 lead.
  • Canisius tallied three runs in the top of the sixth inning to lead 6-4.

  • Marist tallied seven hits.
  • McDonald went 3-for-4 at the plate with a home run and two singles.
  • McDonald reached 19 homers on the season, and has now homered in five straight games.
  • Grupp went 2-for-4 at the plate hitting two singles.
  • Myers pitched 4.1 innings with four strikeouts.
  • Sidlowski pitched 2.2 innings with two strikeouts.
