Box Score EMMITSBURG, Maryland - The Marist men's lacrosse team picked up its second MAAC victory of the season defeating the Mount Saint Mary's Mountaineers 11-10 in a gritty battle on the road.
With the win, Marist improves to 5-6 overall and 2-4 in conference play. Mount Saint Mary's falls to 1-11 on the season and 1-5 in the MAAC.
- The Red Foxes struck first, securing a two-goal lead at the end of the first quarter thanks to goals from Josh Balcarcel and Collin Patrick.
- The Mount scored three straight to start the second quarter, taking a 3-2 lead at the 6:08 mark.
- Balcarcel responded for the Red Foxes, putting in his second to even the score.
- The Mount quickly scored another goal to retake the lead.
- Patrick fired home his second of the day on an assist by Balcarcel to tie the game at 4-4.
- Mount Saint Mary's found the back of the net again to retake the lead.
- Keenan DeRaeve evened the score once again for the Red Foxes.
- With 57 seconds remaining in the first half, the Mount put one more in to take a 6-5 lead into the locker room.
- Jake Deacy opened the scoring in the second half to tie the score at 6-6.
- The Red Foxes added two more goals from Drew Anderson and Deacy again to take a two-goal advantage at 8-6 with 6:05 remaining in the third quarter.
- The Mount utilized a man-up situation to find the net and get back within one.
- Deacy completed the hat trick on a pass from Sam Ferrel to give Marist a 9-7 lead with 2:09 left in the third.
- Mount Saint Mary's struck first in the fourth, scoring three straight to retake the lead.
- Sean Mullan responded for the Red Foxes, finding the back of the net to make it 10-10 with 6:35 left to play in the game.
- Anderson made an incredible play to fire home his second goal of the day and give the Red Foxes an 11-10 lead with 2:40 remaining, which proved to be the difference.
- Deacy recorded his fifth game with three or more goals.
- Patrick and Balcarcel each contributed two goals and one assist.
- Anderson scored his eighth and ninth goals of the season.
- DeRaeve and Mullan each added a goal for the Red Foxes.
- The Red Foxes will come back home to take on rival Siena College on Wednesday, April 10th
