LOUDONVILLE, New York – The Marist softball team split a doubleheader at Siena on Tuesday. The Red Foxes fell in game one by a score of 2-1, but bounced back for a 10-2 victory in five innings in the second game.
 

Game One

• Siena opened the scoring in the bottom of the second. A two-out single by Carlie Venables brought home Emma Petersen.
• The Red Foxes tied the score in the top of the sixth on a home run by Miah McDonald.
• Siena scored the eventual game-winning run in the bottom of the sixth, when Mady Silber's single brought home Mary Mikalsen.
• Both teams had six hits. Haley Ahr and Alyssa Grupp had two apiece.
• Kiley Myers pitched a complete game with five strikeouts against just one walk.
• Alyssa Eimont pitched a complete game for Siena with four strikeouts.

 

Game Two

• Peyton Pusey led off the game with a walk, and scored on a groundout by Grupp.
• Marist scored six in the third inning, powered by three home runs. McDonald belted a solo homer, Ahr had a two-run shot, and Ronni Howard delivered a three-run blast.
• Marist added two in the fourth. Pusey came home on a sacrifice fly by Maddie Pleasants, and McDonald scored on an RBI single by Ahr.
• Siena scored twice in its half of the fourth, but Marist got one back in the fifth. Maddie Gore delivered a pinch-hit double, and Pusey brought her home with a single. When Anna Sidlowski kept Siena off the scoreboard in the fifth, the Red Foxes closed out the Saints in five.
• Marist outhit Siena, 10-3. McDonald went 3-for-3 with a homer, double, walk, and two runs scored. Ahr drove in three and went 2-for-2 with a homer and walk. Howard drove in three. Pusey and McDonald scored two runs apiece.
• Sidlowski went the distance in the circle. She retired the first nine Siena hitters she faced, and improved to 3-0 in MAAC games.

 

Notes

• McDonald now has eight home runs in her last 12 games, and now has 12 on the season.
• Grupp extended her hitting streak to 11 games.
• Sidlowski ran her record to 12-2, and she leads the MAAC in wins.

 

Records

• Marist is 26-11 overall and 8-3 in the MAAC.
• Siena is now 19-11 this season and 5-3 in the MAAC.
